Shortlisted for Best Wedding Cake Designer

It has been such a busy summer and even the winter was very busy for wedding cakes in 2015 so it’s no surprise that I haven’t even been able to grab five minutes and post on my blog, Happy New Year and Merry Christmas all rolled into one! I’ve also been replying to lots of enquiries since the New Year so it looks like lots of you got engaged over the festive season. Already this year I’ve made two wedding cakes and have been on a photoshoot to a stunning new venue, Belchamp Hall. Can’t wait to show you the results of the shoot, I’m sure they’ll be inundated with enquiries once word gets around! I didn’t enter the Wedding Industry Awards this time so in two days time I’ll be handing over my crown to another deserving winner. Excitingly though I’ve been shortlisted for another award which I’m hugely proud of and would very much appreciate your vote. By clicking on the logo you will be taken to the UK Wedding Awards website and if you vote you will be eligible to win a holiday to Mexico.  Keeping my fingers and toes crossed, Helen x

French Elegance Wedding Cake Featured on Cake Geek Magazine!

Cake Geek Badge large

It’s always an honour to be featured on someone elses blog but even more so when it’s Cake Geek Magazine! It is always my go-to place for wedding cake inspiration and I never thought in a million years that I’d be ever featured in one of their blogs! I still feel so small next to all of those greats that I’ve admired from afar for so long. Thank you to Cake Geek Magazine for featuring my French Elegance cake in your latest feature on the trend for greys, I’m even more chuffed as it’s my favourite colour at the moment, heck, my whole house is painted in 50 shades of it!

Showing my new wedding cake designs at Easton Grange, Sunday 1st March 2015

Easton Grange Leaflets

I’m really looking forward to showcasing some of my new wedding cake designs at Easton Grange this Sunday, one of my favourite venues here in Suffolk. If last year’s Spring Open Day was anything to go by then it’s set to be a very, very busy day! I couldn’t make the Autumn show as I was on holiday so I’m really looking forward to showing there again.

I’m busy in the kitchen this week trialling some new recipes to take along to the Open Day but I’ll probably need some help on the day deciding which ones will make it to the menu and which ones won’t. Pop along to my stand and help me decide (who can resist the offer of cake!). I’ll also be offering a free goodie bag, packed full of homemade treats, to any couples that are getting married at Easton Grange and book their wedding cake with me on the day. For more info on the Open Day and this beautiful venue go to:

The 2015 Wedding Industry Awards

Well here it is, my first blog post! It’s something I’ve been ignoring for a long time, partly because I’ve been soooo busy and partly because I hate writing anything! I never know what to say or how to put it down in words but January has been such an exciting month for Amelie’s Kitchen that it just had to be shared no matter how uneloquently I manage to word it! Is uneloquent even a word?? What was so exciting I hear you say, well I managed to bag my first award, not just any award but the National Winner of Best Cake Designer in the 2015 Wedding Industry Awards. It was such an honour to even win the East of England regional award as scores were based on customer comments so to go on and win the Nationals was a huge shock. The finals were judged by three very well known and respected wedding cake professionals, Rosalind Miller, Jenny Royle of Wedding Cakes Magazine and Helen Mansey of Bellissimo Cakes. I had to submit samples of cake for the judges to try that showed my style approach, skill and creativity, alongside marketing material ….. nerve-racking to say the least, especially the three hour journey to deliver the samples! The awards ceremony took place on 15th January at the glamorous Cafe de Paris in London where I was joined by fellow regional winners Sam of Wild Poppies Flowers and Marie of Weddings for you by Marie.

It was an amazing party and the photos from the event prove it…..
