Well here it is, my first blog post! It’s something I’ve been ignoring for a long time, partly because I’ve been soooo busy and partly because I hate writing anything! I never know what to say or how to put it down in words but January has been such an exciting month for Amelie’s Kitchen that it just had to be shared no matter how uneloquently I manage to word it! Is uneloquent even a word?? What was so exciting I hear you say, well I managed to bag my first award, not just any award but the National Winner of Best Cake Designer in the 2015 Wedding Industry Awards. It was such an honour to even win the East of England regional award as scores were based on customer comments so to go on and win the Nationals was a huge shock. The finals were judged by three very well known and respected wedding cake professionals, Rosalind Miller, Jenny Royle of Wedding Cakes Magazine and Helen Mansey of Bellissimo Cakes. I had to submit samples of cake for the judges to try that showed my style approach, skill and creativity, alongside marketing material ….. nerve-racking to say the least, especially the three hour journey to deliver the samples! The awards ceremony took place on 15th January at the glamorous Cafe de Paris in London where I was joined by fellow regional winners Sam of Wild Poppies Flowers and Marie of Weddings for you by Marie.
It was an amazing party and the photos from the event prove it…..
I’m now following up lots of enquiries since winning, some really exciting projects have popped into my inbox so watch this space!
